Ph.D. (Economics) Registration

Register and pay the application fee to receive your student-portal login. Your Ph.D. application is completed by submitting the form and research proposal as set out below.

  1. This page registers you for Ph.D. (Economics) — October Cycle 2026 and issues your student-portal login.
  2. Registering here does not complete your application. You must also submit the duly filled Ph.D. admission form along with your research proposal to the Principal, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector-26, Chandigarh-160019 (by hand / registered / speed post), and email a soft copy to economics@sggscollege.ac.in.
  3. Last date: 10th October, 2026 by 4:00 p.m.
  4. Download the Application Form (PDF) and read the full Admission Advertisement before you apply.

If the fee was paid successfully but the email with your login ID and password hasn’t arrived, please do not make the payment again. Login credentials are issued on the same day — kindly allow until the end of the day for the email to reach you, and do remember to check your spam / junk folder. If you still haven’t received it by the next working day, please contact the admission office for assistance.

Documents Required

  • Class 10 mark sheet and certificate
  • Class 12 mark sheet and passing certificate
  • Character certificate from the last institution attended
  • Migration certificate (if from a different board / university)
  • Reserved category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD), if applicable
  • Recent passport-size photographs
  • Aadhaar card / Government-issued ID proof
  • Bachelor's degree mark sheet and certificate (for PG applicants)

Selection Criteria

Most undergraduate courses admit students on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination — Class 12 marks for UG and Bachelor's degree marks for most PG programmes.

Some postgraduate programmes such as MSc Zoology and MSc Chemistry require the PU-CET (PG) entrance examination conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh — with the College typically giving 50% weightage to the entrance test and 50% to the qualifying examination.
