A year of environmental action — tree plantation drives, awareness rallies, expert lectures, inter-college competitions and partnerships across an entire calendar of green commitment.
Fostering environmental awareness and sustainable living through awareness programmes, campaigns and practical green initiatives.
The Dharat Suhavi Environment Society of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College is a vibrant student-led platform committed to fostering environmental awareness and promoting sustainable living practices.
The Society plays a significant role in nurturing ecological responsibility among students through a variety of awareness programmes, campaigns and practical green initiatives. During the academic session 2025–26, the Society actively organised plantation drives, environmental awareness campaigns and orientation programmes for first-year students, while also participating in several national-level environmental initiatives.
The Eco Scouts, the dedicated volunteer wing of the Society, remained the backbone of its field activities. They conducted awareness drives, facilitated orientation sessions and contributed extensively to environmental outreach and experiential learning activities.
Continuing its dedication to ecological sustainability, the Society organised plantation drives and celebrated Van Mahotsav to support afforestation and biodiversity conservation on the campus. The maintenance and enhancement of green spaces were carried out with active student participation, encouraging a sense of environmental stewardship and collective responsibility.
Through its continuous initiatives, educational programmes and community engagement activities, the Society has successfully cultivated a strong culture of sustainability within the College and the wider community — and remains steadfast in its mission to expand its outreach and inspire collective action towards a greener future.
The Society’s sustained efforts have earned recognition from pollution-control bodies, government departments and national green-corps programmes.
Through the DROP (Develop Responsible Outlook for Plastic) Project, the College contributed 452 kg of plastic waste for recycling. In recognition of this impactful social contribution, the College received the “Winner — Exemplary Performance Award” in the college category, presented by the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) and Kia India.
