BCA I 3 - Year (NEP) 120

A person who has passed one of the following examinations shall be eligible to join the 1st Year of BCA:

(i) +2 examination in any discipline with at least 50% marks and passed Mathematics as one of the subjects at Matriculation level; or

(ii) Any other examination recognised by the Syndicate as equivalent to (i) above.

Note: 5% weightage will be given for the subject of Mathematics / Statistics or equivalent to the candidate who studied the subject at 10+2 level.

BCA II / III 3 - Year (NEP) A student who has passed BCA I / II from PU Chandigarh or from any other University recognised by PU with same subjects / scheme of the prescribed course or shall have to pass the deficient subjects, subject to the availability of seats.
BCA Honours (4 Years) & BCA Honours with Research (4 Years) 4 - Year Note: 4th Year of all Courses — Honours & Honours with Research will be subject to approval by Panjab University.
General admission rules — Admission to all classes is made strictly as per eligibility and merit criteria laid down by Panjab University depending on available seats. Fraction of marks less than the requisite percentage will not be rounded off in the candidate's favour. Candidates having passed +2 without English from any recognised body are eligible to join BCA, otherwise he / she has to pass the deficient English subject with the parent Board / University in two consecutive chances; failing which admission will automatically stand cancelled. Programme Overview

From foundations to emerging technology

The BCA at SGGS builds students' ability to design, develop and maintain software solutions for real-world problems. Under NEP, the curriculum balances theoretical computer science with hands-on programming, database and web development, and emerging areas such as data science, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and cyber security — supplemented by MDC / IDC, SEC, VAC and an Internship.

Compulsory Subjects

Curriculum components

  • Discipline Specific Courses (DSC): Compulsory core subjects.
  • Multidisciplinary Course (MDC / IDC): Student is required to select 01 subject from the MDC / IDC options.
  • Skill Enhancement Course (SEC): Student is required to select 01 subject from the SEC options.
  • Value Added Course (VAC): Student is required to select 01 subject from the VAC options.
  • Ability Enhancement Course (AEC): English.
  • Punjabi or History & Culture of Punjab: Students who are not domiciled in Punjab and have not passed Punjabi up to class 10th / 12th can opt HCP in place of Punjabi.
  • Internship: Students are required to undertake Internships in approved organisations / institutions to enhance employability skills or research aptitude.
