Sri Guru Gobind Singh College was established in 1966 as a tricentennial memorial to the Tenth Guru of the Sikhs — Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji — the great saint-soldier and a scholar par excellence. The foundation stone was laid by the then Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, on August 29, 1963.
